How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
This picture is using the camera to film the video the main things which i learnt from this were that the use of mes-en-scene is highly important and you must make sure of your surrondings before you start filming as this could either make or ruin the shot. Also the need to use different angles and have a steady hand.

i-movie which we used to edit our video. The main things which i learnt from using imovie is that you can edit out and crop shots the make all the scenes come together, changing the speed of the scenes, and the adding different effect to your video we used the vintage effect, which changed the colour slightly, adding credits in and using different tansitions.

Here is using photoshop to create the auxillary tasks, of the cd cover and magazine advert. Photoshop takes alot to get used to which i learnt and can make your work look really effective depending on what you want to do. The effects on the programme, benefit your work if you know how to use them, some are straightforward to use whereas others are not. The main ones that i used were the lasso magnetic tool which enables you to cut around the image and the colour effects the gradient etc.

i-dvd is where the video is tansferred and burnt onto a disk. Using this i learnt how to upload my video into i-dvd and choose the theme, add the movie into the title screen. Then it's ready to be burnt to a disk.

We used youtube in the research process, to look at music video's that could help us in creating our own ones. I created an account on youtube, and uploaded my music video. I already knew how to do this due to previous videos for media, i had uploaded. I learnt the importantance of audience feedback, it's helps to have comments made about your work so you know what can be improved and what is good about it.

We also used facebook for audience feedback, uploading our video onto here to give us more audience feedback as well as using youtube.

We used Prezi to present our evaluation, i had never used this progamme before so i learnt alot whilst using it. What to do and how to use it is pretty easy to pick up. I learnt how to add in text, videos and photos. Also how to create the paths of when you click which parts it leads to.

Used throughout all the stages of production, this was beneficial for recording all of the planning research construction and progress throughout the project.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Here are both of my ancillary tass for Florence and the machine- Kiss with a fist.

Here is my advert, i wanted to keep it simple but make it stand out to reading through the magazine. The picture i chose for my advert achieved this because it was of the artist in an unusal pose and took up most of the advert, so seeing it at a glance may draw people to look more closely into the advert. I chose a sepia effect instead of a bright colour to keep in with the theme throughout our video being vintage, i feel it continued the effect. Also keeping with the vintage theme i chose the scroll text. And i only included the most important parrts of information so that it was easy to read and the information you wanted you found out straight away this being the title, song and release date. Also the reccomendation of a popular magazine, which might draw in people that wouldn't usually listen but may be influenced because of the magazine the read to see if it was as good as they reccomended.

Here is my album cover, continuing the simple and vintage look. I used the image of the artist again so it was clear that it was her single and then duplicated it three times in different shades adding to the vintage effect of the video and advert. Also i used the same font as the advert to link the together.
However the others in my group had a different approach and didn't really link all of our work together even though we used the same font and images, they were slightly too different.
About NME magazine: Price £2.20

We researched into marketing the product, we decided that it was best to create a single instead of an album due to the issues of creating a name for the album. We decided that we would publish our advert in NME magazine as the magazine focused on the same genre as our music video. This would have the largest audience because of the magazine being open to variety of genres so it allowed us to gain a wider audience than expected. we also decided that we would put it up for download as there are more people using online stores like itunes to purchase there music. So it might have more success being advertised online aswell.

We decided on the price being at £2.99 as it was only a single. If somebody was downloading the song online it would cost between the regions of 99p to £1.75 depending on the popularity. Also the song and video can be purchased seperatly online and not just the song which would be the case in shops. However more profit would come from sales in stores the online download would be preferable to consumers. The benefits of advertising online are
• Targeted & measurable
• Reaches a global audience
• Speed of response (point of sale)
• Cost effective
• Drives traffic to advertisers site
• Quality of ad
• Speed of turning around ad
• Ease of advertising with IPC
• Extension of strong existing brands andcommunities
• Perfect pairing with magazines
• Control of ad/site content withinclassified department

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

The similarities between the actual artist and our actress who is recreating the artist, are that they are both representing a stereotype for indie/rock style of apperence. This is presented through the costume and genre of music that's used in the video. The role of in the video that each play are the same they are the main artist so the video is focused on them, so most of the shots are of different angles of them. Their function in the video is to create the video they do this through singing the song and acting out the story which is in the song.
The differences are that in florence and the machines verison the story is different so her role in the film is slightly different however she is still the main focus and artist.
The uses and gratifications of my audience and how they will consume the text are presented throughout my video, they way in which the audience would be attracted to the video is through the genre of music, if they are intrested in the music then they would have the same understanding of the text that was imagined. The target audience was anyone that are intrested in this type of genre, whether they enjoy the music and style which is being shown. They would enjoy music of the same genre such as The maccabees, paloma faith etc, if they like the style of costumes used throughout the video then, they would probably shop in topshop/topman.
The feedback lead us to think of some ways we could have improved the finished video, such as the title which is shown at the beginning of the video, and some shots which could have been lipsinked abit better.
Our product could be linked to real media texts in some shots, as some parts made it real because they could be seen in real media texts. The various locations and different shots, the main focus being on the artist is always shown in the same genre music videos.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media texts?

One way we challenged and developed the forms and conventions is through the special effects we used whilst editing. An example of this is when Florence appears to be inside the television but she's not. We did this through filming the television part first then burnt it onto the disk and then played it through whilst filming. We decided to do this as its different and engages viewers at the start of the video so they are drawn to watch it. We used the forms and conventions of real media products through the setting and location we used in the music video which is used in typical music videos.
