Continuing with looking at britishness and youth culture, we explored youth culture throughout the years to gain a better understanding. We started looking at film trailers starting from the 1930's up until the present day.
The films trailers we watched were:-
Reefer Madness (1938)
Look Back In Anger (1958)
Quadrophenia (1979)
Bullet Boy (2005)
Kidulthood (2006)

Further planning
Planning for our music video has made progress, mostly everything has been thought about and planned for down to deatils of the costumes and locations. We decided the best way to plan was to write out the lyrics verse by verse and plan with each bit speperatly, so we knew exactly what was going on in each part. Then we made sure we knew how long each verse lasted so we knew how long to film for in each section on the song, and that we didn't repeat any parts.
You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed
You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed.
My black eye casts no shadow
Your red eye sees nothing
Your slaps don't stick
Your kicks don't hit
So we remain the same
love sticks
sweat drips
break the lock if it don't fit
A kick in the teeth is good for some
A kiss with a fist is better than none
A kiss with a fist is better than none
I broke your jaw once before
I spilled your blood upon the floor
You broke my leg in return
so let's sit back and watch the bed burn
love sticks
sweat drips
break the lock if it don't fit
A kick in the teeth is good for some
A kiss with a fist is better than none

British film
During class we've been looking at British film, focusing on how Britishness and youth culture is represented throughout films and TV programmes. Bend it like beckham, Kidulthood, Zulu, Dad's army and waterloo road were the main ones we looked at.
We were told to compare and contrast these programmes and films to see if there are any similarities or differences between them through how each of them show Britishness and youth culture.

Planning
Finally we eleminated all the other choices for songs and decided on this one, Florence and the machine- kiss with a fist

More ideas, this time in more detail matching ideas with the specific shots we want to create. The speed of the song doesn't seem to be that worrying seeing as the lyrics to the chours are still slow so we can still lipsink without there being the problem of the words being too fast and too difficult to lipsink, it's just the tempo of the music that is fast.

Developing idea
Today in lesson we made a final decision on which song we are going to choose.
It didn't take as long as expected, as we all argeed on the same song rather quickly. After looking on youtube one final time at the selected three we were considering we made the decision to do kiss with a fist by florence and the machine.
We did another plan just based on this choice of exactly what we were going to do, and what we needed to plan for.

Research and development
Starting this module we decided to start looking at different types of music videos and genres, to see which one would be best to work with. The majority of songs use the videos to tell a story about the song, linking the lyrics with the video. Other videos don't they just match the music and the video.
The brainstorming revolved mainly around the different genres and making sure the song we choose has a story. This is because we would like to use a song that has a story in the lyrics, then we would be able to make the video link with the lyrics and not just the music.
The main genres we looked at were:
Pop
-It has a wide appeal, doesn't have a narrow sub genre to fit to. It has a focus on commercial recording, often oriented towards a youth market, usually through the medium of relatively short and simple love songs. While these basic elements of the genre have remained fairly constant, pop music has absorbed influences from most other forms of popular music, particularly borrowing from the development of rock music, and utilizing key technological innovations to produce new variations on existing themes.
Miley cyrus, Lady gaga, JLS

Country
-Most country music has a story to tell, mainly about love or crime. Songs are sometimes ballads the lyrics depict the emotions and experiences.
Taylor swift, Rascal Flatts

RnB
-Contemporary R&B has a polished record production style, drum machine-backed rhythms, and a smooth, lush style of vocal arrangement. Electronic influences are becoming an increasing trend in contemporary R&B, and the use of hip hop-inspired beats are typical, although the roughness and grit inherented in hip hop is may be reduced and smoothed out. R&B vocalists are often known for their use of melisma (singing of a single syllable of text while moving between several different notes in succession), popularized by vocalists such as Beyonce Knowles and Mariah Carey. Most RnB artists base their videos around them singing, or telling the story.

Indie/rock/alternative
-Indie rock artists are known for placing a premium on maintaining complete control of their music and careers, releasing albums on independent record labels (sometimes self-owned and operated) and relying on touring, word-of-mouth, airplay on independent or college radio stations and, in recent years, the Internet for promotion. Musicians classified as indie rock are typically signed to independent record labels, rather than major record lables, although there are many examples of indie musicians switching to major labels mid-career. This practice blurs the lines between indie and mainstream music and is often the subject of debate amongst fans. Indeed, some bands that have spent most of their careers on major labels are still occasionally referred to by the press as indie rock because of their sound or aesthetic.
Most indie/rock artists base their videos around the band itselfs playing, aswell as telling the lyrical story.

Creating a promo package for the release of a albumn to include a music promo video, together with 2 of the 3 options:
-website for the band

Movie swede
Our next project was to make a movie trailer swede. We were put into groups by our teacher and it was up to us which genre we chose to do, and which film trailer we wanted to swede. We looked at swedes that had already been done in class such as, I am legend swede: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZQeeWnRuoA
We started by researching differnent trailers and different genres, we discovered that if we chose a comedy trailer then it would be more difficult than a horror trailer this was because it was already funny so trying to change it to be funny wouldn't appeal very well.
Finding nemo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2-Jrglx2BM
We finally decided on which movie to do, and we researched more into Donnie Darko. Looking at which parts of the trailer we could actually act out and which parts we couldn't.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5dVSgILS3Y
The planning went well we had storyboards and everything written out, and what diagloue and shots we wanted.
When it came to filming we didn't really have any problems, until we came to editing when we found that some clips hadn't uploaded and some clips couldn't be used, this didn't effect the video too much. But the fitting it all together turned our more challenging than we expected. Another problem we found was that the film hadn't be very popular with our class as hardly anyone had heard of it or seen it, so when we came to show them, some people couldn't really understand.
